We get so absorbed in our phones and technology these days that we may as well be walking robots. I think as a society we've forgotten how to feel and communicate. We're detached from each other and from the world around us. In the new year I plan to take a month out with very limited time on technology (I'm talking like half hour a day) to just actually do things and be in nature and look around me and write and capture all the beauty in life without having my phone going off - paying full attention to everything. The littlest things can make you feel so alive, so I made a list of them:
♡ Lie in a field and look up at the moon and stars. Acknowledge how magnificent the universe is and how small we are in comparison. Realise what a miracle life truly is. Let your heart swell with admiration and let your troubles float away and just..be.
♡ Walk around barefoot. Let yourself feel every different sensation from doing so. Walk on pebbles and let them massage the soles of your feet. Walk in mud and feel it squelch between your toes. Walk on grass and feel the dew hydrate your skin.
♡ Sit in the garden with nothing to do. If it's sunny, let the sun beams shine down and warm your skin, realise how far it's travelled just to touch you. If it's cold, let the wind blow through your hair and understand the circle of life.
♡ Go to the beach. Run into the sea no matter the weather. Shock yourself into the present. Feel the waves crash around you. Submerge yourself and sit on the ocean floor and say hello to the life that lives beneath.
♡ Sit alone in darkness with a single candle burning. Inhale positivity and exhale negativity. Let calmness wash over you and welcome the serenity.
There are so many simple ways to feel alive. Put down your phones and relight your connection with the universe.
Such a beautiful post, Arora! I totally agree that walking around barefoot outside is a wonderful feeling, it's so freeing - I need to do it more! Your last line is so beautifully written as well: 'Put down your phones and relight your connection with the universe'. Wow. I'm bookmarking this post so that I can come back to it and read again when I need to in future. Thank you 💓

Thank you lovely! Glad you enjoyed reading and yes walking barefoot is amazing (just maybe not in this frosty weather haha) xx
DeleteLovely post, I try and do one of these at least once a day, especially the bare foot one. I go out into my garden most mornings even when it's snowing in my bare feet just for a few seconds to reconnect myself with the earth, it feels wonderful (and sometimes very cold).

Wow girl you have more balls than me, I wouldn't go barefoot in the snow haha but fair play to you! xxx
DeleteThis is a really special post - it really inspired me today. I love the one about looking up at the stars, and sitting silently in the candlelight. Such grounding and inspiring ideas. Thank you, Arora! Love, Monica xx
