I recently wrote a post called "Who defines good and bad" which got me thinking about how I wanted to live my life, then I ended up reading about Satanism and it got me thinking about what rules I would like to live by - commandments in a sense. Everyone hates rules, but everyone loves a good list on how to live your life, so I decided to make my own list on how I should live my life: a set of commandments in a sense. I think you have to play 'God' in your own life, you have to set the standards for everything: what you believe in, what you do and don't give a fuck about, how you treat yourself, how other people treat you etc. It's all down to you at the end of the day and I don't think many people remember this as often as I think they should. Your commandments should be in line with your core values. Once you establish what you feel strongly about and what you hold important in your heart you can then create commandments to help you live your life in correspondence with those values. I think that it helps you to live your life the way you want to and offers you direction in life: setting commandments for myself was a massive turning point in my life because it helped me learn more about who I am, and what I really stand for.
My 10 commandments:
- Thou shalt speak honestly and with integrity at all times.
- Thou shalt lend a hand to those in need of help
- Thou shalt show compassion, kindness and respect towards others at all times
- Thou shalt put myself first without guilt to ensure my mind, body and soul are nurtured and healthy
- Thou shalt not harm myself, or any other living creature even super scary spiders!
- Thou shalt not complain about anything I have the ability to change
- Thou shalt continue to learn and grow and to keep an open mind in every situation
- Thou shalt remain humble yet celebrate and acknowledge achievements
- Thou shalt share time with loved ones and ensure they are happy
- Thou shalt love myself in all of it's imperfect glory
