Loving yourself comes in various forms, but I think at the core, it is simply doing what enhances your life. Whether it's quitting your job to pursue a career in something that you love, surrounding yourself with people whom love and support you or even just taking control of your life and making decisions for yourself, regardless of other peoples opinions.
Loving yourself is hard ladies, but it's simple in the same breath. You may think that you're practising self care and loving yourself, but if you're still conjuring up negative thoughts about yourself or putting others needs before your own then sorry sweetie, but you're not loving yourself completely.
Statistically speaking, only 4% of women world wide consider themselves as 'beautiful' which I find is unbelievably disturbing. This is WHY we need to love ourselves - why you need to practise loving yourself.
Here are a few things to help you on your journey towards loving yourself wholly and unconditionally:
1. Stop trying to scrounge love off of other people - you will starve. By loving yourself you'll never go hungry.
2. Take control of your own life. Stop waiting for things to happen or for others to make decisions for you. You are a strong, independent woman, so start acting like one.
3. Your emotions are valid. Never, ever (!) apologise for feeling a certain way or expressing said emotions. You are allowed to laugh at inappropriate times, you are allowed to cry regardless of whether there's a reason to, or not and you are allowed to be angry if someone has hurt you.
4. You have to create your own meaning to life. No one else can tell you what it is, only you know within your heart and soul what your purpose on this earth is. Push past the fear and pursue your wildest dreams - you will die a happy woman.
5. Take time out for yourself. You deserve to splash out on a spa day, you're allowed to buy that new dress that makes you look (and feel) amazing, you are allowed to do things that make you feel like the bad ass you are. Don't let anyone make you feel bad about being selfish once in a while.
Sweet post. :) I agree that self-love is very important and not even that, I think being happy is one of our main goals in life (along with some others) and self-love is most certainly part of being happy. :) Also love the first point, expecially this "By loving yourself you'll never go hungry".

DeleteI really need to learn number 3! I always worry about the way I feel and how it will make other people feel, rather than just allowing myself to feel how I feel.
